Forgotten pets

With less than a week left, I’m at the stage of my visit when Mum and I pull out the old black and white photographs and reminisce. This time I found pictures of pets that Mum had before I was born, or when I was very little. Mum always had stories to tell about them, so it’s fun to finally see what they looked like. Of them I only remember Shanoo and Tika. I never saw Mum’s cats Romy and Kaaloo, her dog Donny, and her first dog Lucy, but I’ve heard a lot about them, especially Romy, her large orange tom cat.

Dolphins!

and other critters at Seaworld.

That's my son floating near the edge of the shark pool. It's safe of course. There were (older) people in the shark pool! The only vaguely disturbing thing to go directly under him was a manta ray the size of a coffee table. I know, I know, they're harmless, but ever since that Steve Irwin thing they make me jumpy.

My copy of The Zoya Factor!

Here’s a picture of my very own copy of my sister's book, “The Zoya Factor”, autographed and all! It’s a preview copy, since the book wasn’t out when my cousin’s wife (who brought it for me) flew back to Australia. Of course, since it’s the very first copy to arrive in OZ, I had it for all of one day before everyone else wanted to read it. My Mum, Papa, my sisters, my cousin, my cousin’s wife, my teenage niece! I think it’s at my sister Ruhi’s house at the moment, but it’s hard to be sure.

I’m letting them, because I figure, in all of 8 days I’ll have it all to myself on the VERY long flights home. That is, if you discount my 8 year old daughter saying every ten pages, Mommy, why are you laughing, what’s happening in Anuja Mausi’s book, etc. In any case with just over a week left in Australia I’ve too much to do. I’d like to read it when things are less frantic.

Rainforest trees

Giant trees in the rainforest at Mount Glorious. Some of them were over eight feet in diameter and who knows how tall!
